Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain, February 11, 2008 – ACCESS CO., LTD. today reinforced its leadership in the mobile industry with announcements supporting joint initiatives to deliver Linux-based platforms for mobile devices. Just one year after releasing the Product Development Kit for its ACCESS Linux Platform to licensees and partners, the Company confirmed that the platform will power the first open, mobile Linux handset for Orange. The new handset, expected to be available to Orange customers later this year, will be produced by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and will give Orange customers the full benefits of the ACCESS Linux Platform, including an innovative and user-friendly Interface design, access to thousands of off-the-shelf Garnet OS-based applications available immediately, and integrated communication between applications, enabling a seamless user experience for music, messaging and other advanced features.

In a move to help unify the mobile Linux industry and further enable time-to-market development of open devices, ACCESS also announced that it has joined the LiMo Foundation as a Core member and will hold a seat on the LiMo Foundation board. In recognition of ACCESS’ proven track record with the developer community of successfully bringing to market its ACCESS Linux Platform Software Development Kit (SDK), ACCESS is spearheading the team tasked with developing the LiMo Foundation’s native Linux SDK suite.

ACCESS further announced the availability of the ACCESS Linux Platform Development Suite (including SDK and Tools) via a newly-created developer portal designed to provide support and services for third party Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). The ACCESS Linux Platform Development Suite is immediately available free of charge to all registered members of the ACCESS Developer Network at http://accessdevnet.com.

As evidence of the continued momentum behind ACCESS solutions, eleven new members were added to the growing roster of companies in the ACCESS Connect Ecosystem (ACE) global partner program, bringing total membership to 85. The ACE partner program, which was launched at 3GSM World Congress 2007, represents a network of world-class partners developing and promoting new converged technologies and solutions in concert with ACCESS.

“ACCESS is dedicated to driving industry momentum to enhance the growth of the mobile Linux platform,” said Toru Arakawa, ACCESS CEO, president and co-founder. “The marketplace is rapidly moving towards a complete and seamless experience for users of Internet-enabled devices. An open platform and open Internet are vital to this convergence, and ACCESS will continue to be a leader in helping our partners bring applications, content and services to converged devices around the world.”
